Frequently

Questions
Is HaU only for Latinas?
Everyone can join and help minority women be represented in the collegiate and professional worlds.
Are you a sorority?
No, Hermanas Unidas is not a sorority. Hermanas Unidas is a sisterhood of women determined to make the journey of college easier for all of us. We focus on the academic, community service, and social aspects of college life to make our Hermanas holistic and functioning members of society. It is our goal to see everyone graduate and prosper.
What does HaU do?
Hermanas Unidas focuses on making our members well rounded and ready for their professional careers. We stress academics because the first goal is to see every Hermana graduate. To achieve this, HaU holds study hours every Monday and has a study buddy program to keep Hermanas accountable for studying.
We also stress community service because it is important to give back to the community that gave to us. Together, we see how much impact a few helping hands can change the lives of families. Our club organizes at least one service event a month to encourage and strengthen community outreach among our members.
Finally, we have our social focus. With hard work comes well-deserved play. We host sisterhood events and open events to ensure networking skills and assertive personalities. Hermanas Unidas is a home away from home, an open and comfortable space, to discuss difficult experiences and tackle the challenges faced by minority collegiate and professional women every day.
Is there an education process?
Hermanas Unidas prides itself on having an open-door policy.
This means that anyone who is passionate about the things we stand for can join Hermanas Unidas. There is no pledging, no rush, and no educational process. All are welcome and able to become an Hermana when they feel it in their hearts. If you feel like a Hermana, it's because you are one!
